Located in the complex of Halong Bay with countless of majestic caves, Sung Sot Cave is the largest and most beautiful one. Inside the place, there are lots of rocky islands concentrated having distinct and strange shapes, which cannot find in other ones.
At the first impression, Sung Sot cave looks a bit small and dark, but as its name, Sung Sot, which means astonishing in English, the cave does astonish people when we pass through a rocky slot and go inside and find the huge expansion.
The exploration of the cave is not to far from mountain climbing. Each step through stone is a step to the sky. The place is divided into 2 parts. The first one is like an immerse theater with the ceiling covered by stalactites and stalagmites looking like a silky “velvet carpet” with beautiful motifs or a myriad of glistering and aglow chandeliers. The other part is connected with this one through a small road and owns completely different space. It has the capacity for thousands of people.Next to the entrance is a horse and a long sword made from stone and a long sword. There’s a famous legendary that says Thanh Giong (Phu Dong Thien Vuong), a mythical folk hero of Vietnam’s history, defeated the invaders. After that, he left the horse and the sword in order to reassure people and banish the invaders and flew to the sky, became a God. The footprints of the horse became small ponds along with crumbled rocks.
Inside Sung Sot Cave, there are lots of surprising scenery waiting to astonish tourists. At the highest peak of the cave, explorers have a great chance to admire the beautiful landscapes of crystal clear water, birds and trees. Sung Sot Cave has been bringing tourists many surprising and interesting things as its name implies. The cave was once voted as one of 10 most beautiful caves in the world by the Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies of Czech. This Cave promises to be one of the most interesting attractions in Halong bay that you should never miss.
